Ancient Civilizations and Fairy Tale Wisdom

One key to manifesting a better reality is personal balance and knowledge of ones self.  To that end, I was talking to a friend of mine about the wisdom of the ancients. Much wisdom was passed down through generations using fairy tales. Today fairy tales are assumed to be stories created to entertain children, with little relevance to adulthood. My friend suggested I look up a book by Robert Bly named Iron John. This book studies a Grimms fairy tale for truths about manhood. Robert Bly has hosted many workshops for helping people to develop into well-grounded adults.

I also bought a book on Amazon “Journey to the Ancestral Self” by Tamarack Song. This book is about the connection we all share with our environment and with the essential self. I admit, I was rather inspired by the movie “Avatar” that my wife and I saw in the movie theater last week. The movie paints a picture of an entire civilization that acts in harmony with its environment. It also illustrates the stark contrast of the industrialized community with the foreign (alien) civilization.

I think our modern culture has lost some of the critical life lessons shared by the ancient civilizations. It would be interesting to revive this information and discuss it in an international forum. Definitely a topic I would like to learn more about.
